An unusual offer

Truth to tell, I don’t know if this is an unusual offer, or just unusual for me. Anyway, thanks for scanning the QR/hitting the link, and here’s the offer.

I have a workroom going begging, in my studio complex (see the rest of this site where you’ve landed). Airbnb is my weekend staple (Striking Guesthouse in Quiet Valley), but mid-week, there’s this gorgeous apartment available from say Tuesday to Thursday, and a workshop space that is waiting for someone. It’s crazy it’s all not being used more, so I’m going to get this Unusual Offer out into the world.

The workshop space:

5.1 m x 7.4 m, external sliding door, door to kitchenette and toilets/shower. Pretty good light. Insulated ceiling/walls, but the external sliding door is porous and it’s cold here in winter.

Power everywhere!

I’ve had woodworkers here, two in sequence, two years each. I want someone who’s temperament fits the space and who’s use won’t t impinge on the weekend Airbnb experience. Someone who needs a space like this - a painter, a maker, a musician.

If you are local, I’m five minutes out of Riddell, driving.

If you’re in Melbourne, the train is an hour, or 45 mins drive from the northern suburbs. Here’s where it get interesting: stay a couple of nights and pay me in skilled labor. I have many projects on the go that need skills that stretch me, and then there’s the maintenance of the buildings and gardens that needs hours more work than I can have available if I am to pursue my creative projects.

The Sandy Creek valley is gorgeous. I’m easy to get along with, I think. Fortunately, the two residences are separate!

Money is a thing. I just spent $2500 on the roof, and this year’s home and contents insurance is $7000, up from $2600 three years ago.

I want the place to pay its way, and for this store of privilege to get played out in a meaningful way, not sequestered away. There’s the world at stake.

Give me a call and let’s talk. 0422 116 519. Come up and have a look.
